Kailani Craine competed at the Olympic Qualifier event the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy at Oberstdorf, Germany on the 30th September 2017 in which she needed to finish in the top 6 competitors to qualify a spot for Australia at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Not only did Kailani qualify the spot but she took out GOLD in the whole event with overall score of 167.45. The emotional relief on completing her program saw Kailani put her head in her hands knowing that she did all she could do to secure Australia the spot.
Kailani was quoted as saying:
“I felt really prepared for this competition. It wasn’t the best free program that I’ve done, but it was enough to get me first place and to qualify an Olympic spot.”
“I don’t think anything really can compare with what the Olympic Games are going to be like.
“It’s been a dream since I started skating, so I really just want to be able to skate my best, but I want to soak up every single moment.”
As the results came up, Kailani and her coaching team of Jere Michael and Tiffany Chin gave the world the reaction shot of the week!
Congratulations Kailani, you have done Australia proud with your efforts, determination and the way you conduct yourself. An inspiration to all!
